bbc/children in need
I was commissioned by the BBC to create paper cut outs for local news segments on Children in Need, and the many ways that the charity helps children across the capital.
In the run up to the annual event, BBC London asked me to help depict one young girl’s experiences and how Safer London have helped her through difficult times. As the interview dealt with such a sensitive subject, it was decided that silhouettes would be the most appropriate way to tell her story. I created 5 paper cuts which were then filmed as a shadow theatre and shown alongside the interview.
I got to spend a fascinating few hours at BBC Broadcasting House watching the scenes being filmed.
The following year, journalist Lauren Worrall commissioned me again for BBC South East Today, to illustrate the story of a mother who managed to overcome her drug addiction and domestic abuse to find support from Brighton Oasis Project.
